This page contains documentation related to the desktop computers in the BE lab, 16-352.
How to build a machine
- Install current version of Windows (or some better operating system)
- Create Learning Biologic Geanie account with password Il20.309!
- Install software below on master image, test, copy to all other computers
Installed software on master image
- Chrome browser (must use standalone version: course share or http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?standalone=1)
- Firefox browser ( download latest from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/)
- Matlab (download latest from http://www.mathworks.com)
- National Instruments DaqMX (course share or http://www.ni.com/support/)
- LabView (course share or http://www.ni.com/support/)
- Allied Vision Technologies AVT Universal Package, GigE SDK, (course share or http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/us/support/downloads/software.html)
- Office 2010 (download via http://ist.mit.edu/software-hardware)
- Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/)
- ImageJ (http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/)
- Acrobat Reader (http://get.adobe.com/reader/)
- Notepad++ (download latest from http://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
- AVG Free Anti-virus (download latest from http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage and be sure not to install any browser add-ons. Turn-on Resident Shield and Removable Media Scan. Turn-off LinkScanner, scheduled scan and automatic program updates. Make sure automatic virus definition updates is ON daily and set up update upon computer start if missed on regular schedule. Other settings keep as-installed.)
