Based on what you saw on your tour of Prof. Scott Manalis' Travera start-up, the Broad Institute Genomics platform, Q-State Biosciences, or Ginkgo Bioworks,

  1. In general terms, describe one novel instrument that you were introduced to. What are the principles behind the measurement technique and what are its applications?
  2. What are one or two technical challenges that had to be overcome to develop the instrument?
  3. During your visit, ask your tour guide at least one question about the instrument or measurement. Report the question, and a summary of their answer.
  4. Last but not least, please fill out a survey about your 20.309 experience!
